Welcome from NAHC's President and Chairman

Dear Friends,

The 2011 National Association for Home Care & Hospice 30th Annual Meeting & Exposition will be held in Las Vegas, Nevada. We can think of nowhere that is a better setting. It is a great honor and privilege to invite you and the home care and hospice community to join us at this gathering on October 1-5, 2011.

The theme for this year is “Leading the Last Great Civil Rights Battle: Maximizing Opportunity, Minimizing Risk.” This reflects the opportunities for home care and hospice to reshape the health care system as it prepares to receive the 78 million-strong baby boom generation.

The great gift of all the advances in medicine and technology we have accomplished is that, humans can now live longer than ever, but we have seen along with this a ballooning of chronic illness. Home care is the only answer to serving the greater needs of these individuals to allow them to remain active and independent in their own homes and communities, which is what the vast majority of Americans prefer instead of institutional care. We believe this is a fundamental right of all Americans. This is especially true at the end of life. All Americans should have the right to choose hospice, which helps to manage pain, settle their unfinished business, and allows them to truly live their lives fully until the end of their days -— at home where they overwhelmingly prefer to be.

We invite you to come and join us to:

  • Be with people who share your mission and values;
  • Greet old friends and make new ones;
  • Rekindle the flame that led you to a career in home care and hospice;
  • Hear what experts have to say about preparing for the future;
  • Learn the latest in new technology, clinical protocols, and management breakthroughs that will lower your costs and increase your ability to provide quality care;
  • Energize and stimulate your mind to help spur your next creative breakthrough;
  • Refresh your body by taking a break from the difficult jobs you do in caring for the aged, infirm, dying, and disabled; and
  • Nourish your soul.

We are working to make sure this will be the finest meeting you have ever attended. IT IS THE BEST INVESTMENT YOU CAN MAKE IN YOUR FUTURE, AND THAT OF YOUR ORGANIZATION. We look forward to seeing you in Las Vegas October 1-5, 2011 and to joining with you in celebrating NAHC’s 30th year.

With great respect and thanks, sincerely,
