Begin by deciding what day you will be arriving. Most people will fly in Saturday, October 10, 2009 (or on Friday if they want to spend Saturday sightseeing in Los Angeles), and most will fly home Wednesday afternoon, October 14, 2009, after the closing General Session.

Airlines
Make your airline reservations. Most major carriers fly into Los Angeles International Airport. Below is contact information for major airlines. However some attendees should check fares, they might benefit by flying into Bob Hope Burbank Airport to the north of the city and taking a Super Shuttle to the downtown area.
Long Beach Airport to the South of the City Center is
particularly advantageous to those flying from the East
Coast because it is the home of Jet Blue Airlines. Enter in the code NAHC09 when making a reservation and save!
The
savings is often far more than enough to offset the cost
and the minor inconvenice of taking a shuttle to the

5. Question: Why should
I register early?
Answer: Special savings. The earlier a person registers, the more
they SAVE! Members always receive a discount as compared
to non-members. Non-members who register on-site will
pay the highest rates. Special savings are also available
for those that register multiple attendees.

Question: Why book at NAHC’s Hotels?
Answer: Each year, NAHC
works hard to keep your overall conference costs as low
as possible. NAHC uses its group purchasing power to negotiate
with the official Annual Meeting hotels in Los Angeles.
NAHC’s contracts protect
members by including protective clauses to prevent them
being shut out from a hotel, as well as discounted hotel room rates.
7. Question: How
do I get from the airport to the hotel?
Answer: The Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) is located
18 miles from downtown Los Angeles. Among the modes of
transportation available at LAX are airport bus service,
door-to-door shuttle van service, local bus lines, light
rail, rental cars, and taxicabs. A free, frequent shuttle
bus also connects LAX with METRO’s
Green Line Light Rail. Another option is the LAX FlyAway
bus service that provides frequent nonstop transportation between LAX
and Union Station in downtown Los Angeles.

Answer: We
work all year to find just the right combination of
general session speakers to compliment our Annual Meeting.
Although not finalized, some of our invited guests are: Brian Theiss,
Founder, Theiss Institute of Health & Wellness,
and Billy Yamaguchi, Hair Stylist to the Stars.
10. Question: How
many educational programs will be offered?
Answer: Over
the four-day conference, more than 120 educational sessions will be
offered. Attendees will have 15 choices in each of eight
separate time blocks, the first of which begins at 11:30
a.m. Sunday, October 11, 2009, and the last of which begins
at 3:45 p.m. Tuesday, October 14, 2009. Each of these
sessions will be 90 minutes long. A total of 180 hours of the highest
quality educational programming will be offered. When the CEO Leadership
School and general sessions are added to the list, the total is some 210
hours of educational programming.

Question: How many continuing education credits (CEs)
will be offered?
Answer: NAHC
is offering 15 contact hours for nursing CE’s, and 11 contact
hours for accoutant CPE’s.

educational sessions?
Answer: Subjects
covered relate to the major topic areas and include
chronic disease management; clinical services; therapy
and the interdisciplinary team; hospice issues and new regulations; palliative
care in home care; marketing and business development; private pay issues;
quality outcomes and best practices; telehealth and technology from electronic
medical record to clinical use with cardiac patients
in the home; business and financial management; leadership, issues; human
resources & recruitment,
retention and training issues; timely legal & regulatory issues impacting
home health and hospice.

Answer: There
will be specific educational and networking opportunities for various
levels of staff. These include CEO/Executive Director, CFO/Director of
Finance, Clinical Director/Director of Nursing, Compliance/Legal Officer,

Director, Hospice Director, Medical Director, Director of Private Pay,

What are the hours of the NAHC Home Care & Hospice
Exposition?
Answer: The
Exposition Hall will be open Sunday, October 11, from 5 to 7:30 p.m.;
Monday, October 12, from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.; and Tuesday, October
13, from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Continental breakfast will be served from
9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Monday and Tuesday. Lunch will be served
in the Exposition Hall from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. both Monday
and Tuesday.

Question: What can I expect at the NAHC Home Care & Hospice
Exposition?
Answer: The
NAHC Home Care & Hospice Exposition is the largest collection of
goods, services, and technology supporting the hospice
and home care industry in the world. Many people attend
the conference primarily to visit the Exposition Hall.
It offers the opportunity to see the latest cutting-edge
products on the market at some 600 booths that include
everything from computer software, to uniforms and medical
supplies.

Is there any free time built into the program?
Answer: Saturday,
October 10, 2009 has been set aside for attendees to enjoy
the greater Los Angeles area or to take day trips to nearby
destinations.

Answer: Fabulous. The weather should be perfect with highs near
80s and lows in the 60s. If you plan to take a cruise,
or spend some time on the water, you may want to bring
a sweater or jacket along.
